HUC Ponders Merits Of Joint Committees

The Harvard Undergraduate Council discussed last night the merits of a proposal recommending that the Faculty admit students to several of their committees.

Although a decision on the proposal was put off until next week, the 18 Council members present agreed that undergraduates on the committees would provide an excellent means for communicating student views.

The proposal would place students--it has not been determined whether the proposal would ask for voting rights--on the Faculty Committee on Houses, the Committee on Educational Policy, and any Ad. Hoc Committee concerning student affairs.

Lance E. Lindblom '70 was named chairman of a new constitution committee, which will discuss procedures for selecting HUC members and financial matters. Michael A. Roosevelt '69 was selected treasurer for the group. The HUC has had trouble straightening its monetary affairs for several terms.
