The HUA Formed a Team to Resolve a Constitutional Crisis. It’s Not Going Well.
A reorganization of the Admissions Office, including the appointment of Robert E. Kaufmann '62 as the new director of Admissions, was announced yesterday by Chase N. Peterson '52, Dean of Admissions and Financial Aids.
Beginning May 1, Kaufmann, presently Associate Director of Admissions, will replace David K. Smith '58, who will be the new director of Admissions at Radcliffe.
Peterson also announced that Saemus P. Malin '62, assistant director of Admissions and Financial Aids, will replace Peter K. Gunness '57 as director of the Financial Aid Office. Gunness is leaving to become Headmaster of Browne and Nichols, a private secondary school in Cambridge.
A new post has been resurrected to deal with the added pressure on admissions officers from the increase of 900 applications over last year's total of 7600, Peterson said. Holding the post of associate dean of Admissions and Financial Aids will be John P. Reardon '60, presently associate director of Admissions.
