Farneti, Gatto Awarded Honors For Columbia Game Performance

Harvard's Gary Farneti and Rick Gat to received honorable mention from the Eastern College Athletic Conference for their performances against Columbia last Saturday.

Farneti led the Crimson defense in tackles, while Gatto provided Harvard with a 7-0 lead on a leaping 80-yard touchdown reception early in the first quarter.

Cornell's Ed Marinaro, who will make his first appearance in Harvard Stadium this Saturday, was selected to the ECAC first team backfield for the second consecutive week.

Leading the nation in rushing, the Big Red junior ran for 190 yards against Penn, scoring two touchdowns and the two point conversion that won the game.

Also selected to the ECAC first team was Columbia linebacker Ray Ramsey, who made several important tackles in the Lion's victory over Harvard.

The Lions also had three representatives on the honorable mention roll. Running back Tom Hurley, quarterback Don Jackson, and center Mike Pyszczymucha all were honored for their part in the Crimson defeat.
