The University Committee on Governance today issued an interim report designed to pinpoint several general problems confronting the University.
The report included no specific criticisms of, or proposals for the University, but instead discussed in general such problems as Harvard's social responsibility.
Paul R. Lawrence '42, professor of Organizational Behavior and chairman of the subcommittee which researched the report, said yesterday that the report is designed to stimulate discussion among all members of the University concerning Harvard's future direction. "It should also serve as some sort of guide for the new president," he added.
The report, entitled "The Nature and Purposes of the University," was distributed early this morning to Harvard, Radcliffe, Business School and Law School dormitories.
