"This is potentially a great basketball team--I have such a balanced attack I can't believe it. All my players were stars in high school and their talent makes it the best team I've ever coached."

No, the speaker isn't Bob Harrison or John Wooden or even Lefty Driesell. These words of praise come from an unlikely hoop hotbed--the Radcliffe gym, and the proud speaker is the 'Cliffe's first varsity coach in over a decade, Perla Hewes.

With basketball's return to Radcliffe, the I.A.B. has become the team's new home court. Hewe's 14-player squad opens its 10 game campaign this Saturday at Northeastern.

The team comes together from all over the U.S., from New York and Washington, D.C. to as far west as California. Most individuals are either freshmen or sophomores but all four grades are represented.

Height may be a big asset for Radcliffe this season as the team boasts a six-foot center in Debbie Woods and a starting five average of 5 ft. 10 in.
