The two month search for a successor to Bob Harrison came to an end Tuesday morning as Athletic Director Robert Watson announced that Thomas E. "Satch" Sanders will take the reins as head coach of the Harvard basketball team next season.

Sanders, a 13-year veteran of the Boston Celtics, will get his first crack at a coaching position with the Crimson. His previous experience has been limited to off-season clinics and instruction at a summer camp he and former teammate Don Nelson have run for five years.

"While Tom doesn't have any professional coaching experience, we expect that his personal qualities and excellent knowledge of the game will hold him in good stead as a coach," Watson said in making the announcement.

Sanders is optimistic that he can handle the job. "I think I can bring basketball into its proper perspective at Harvard as far as winning is concerned," he said. Players and fans alike agree that the well-spoken Sanders should have no problems here.
