Boston College Gains 6-6 Tie Terriers Glide Past Vermont

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Cornell University came back from a two-goal deficit Wednesday night to tie Boston College 6-6 in college hockey.

Jim Vaughan scored for the Big Red at 14:12 of the third period to send the game into an extra session. In overtime, the Eagles outshot Cornell 10-4 but Cornell goalie Dave Chrastina made several key saves to ensure the tie.

Chrastina turned aside 36 shots for the whole contest while BC goalie Bill Wilkens made 47 saves.

Richie Smith had two goals for the Eagles and Dave Peace put in a pair for Cornell.

Boston University defeated the University of Vermont in hockey yesterday, 6-3. Terry Meagher led the Terriers' scoring with two goals, with an additional score added by his brother.

Defenseman Vic Hadfield added one goal and three assists to enable Boston to improve their season's record to 9-3-1.

Ruckus-like Play

The action was frigid and furious in the glacial rink, where the glare of the arena lights reflected menacingly off the steel of the skates and the glossy smoothness of the ice.

Players from both teams agreed that playing conditions were ideal for hockey.
