Freshman Gridders Romp

Brown's freshman football team came to Cambridge yesterday sporting an undefeated record and looking somewhat formidable. The Bruins departed several hours later badly beaten by the Harvard frosh, 30-12--victims of their own sloppy play, a tough Crimson defense and an opportunistic Crimson offense.

Harvard scored in the opening minutes when Al Ippolito returned an interception to the 11-yard line and fullback Wayne Moore barreled over from one yard out. After a tough Crimson defensive stand only minutes later, the Harvard offense mounted a five-play, 48-yard touchdown drive, and the team took a 13-0 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the referee gave Brown possession of their own punt they downed deep in Harvard territory. The Bruins jumped right back in the game when they plowed over for six points from five yards out.

The Crimson came back to put the game away with two straight scores. First quarterback Mike Kelly connected with Paul Sablock on a 26-yard pass Sablock fumbled the ball into the endzone and Dave Kinney fell on it for the tally. Kelly iced the game in the fourth quarter when he hit Sablock on a 10-yard scoring strike.

Gary Bosniv's 41-yard field goal for Harvard and a 67-yard Brown touchdown bomb closed out the scoring.

Strong Passing

Kelly led the offense through the air with 11 of 17 passes completed for 122 yards. Pollillio and Gary Quantock sparked the running game with 133 combined rushing yards.
