Baraka Advocates Revolution To 'Crush' World Capitalism

By Kathleen T. Riley

Imamu Baraka, playwright and chairman of the Congress of African People, called last night for a "violent transition" of capitalism to achieve a multinational socialism in a speech to about 500 people in the Science Center.

"Trying to reform capitalism to achieve scientific capitalism is like painting the insides of a concentration camp," Baraka said. "Life will remain warped until this parasitic structure, monopoly capitalism, is destroyed and the parasites running it are destroyed."

'Royal Thieves'

Calling President Ford "at best a gun-bearer in the parasitic structure, leading the nation with ox-like profoundity," Baraka labeled Vice President Rockefeller the "general" of capitalists and a member of the "royalty of thieves."

Less than 1 per cent of the population directly controls 30 per cent of the national wealth. Baraka said. "Joined with the holdings of their lackeys and lieutenants--the president and congressmen--2 per cent of the population controls over 90 per cent of the wealth." he said.

"You students here at Harvard are being asked to function as lackeys of the less-than-1-per cent being groomed to join the black petty bourgeoisie," Baraka said.
