In a visit to the Lowell House basement yesterday, two representatives from Maytag Inc. agreed to install seven new coin operated washing machines and four double-decker dryers in the house at no cost to the University.
Patrick J. Glynn '73, a resident tutor in Lowell, initiated a search for improved laundry facilities after watching house residents struggle with four faulty washers and six dryers, he said yesterday.
Maytag Inc. may also be willing to supply other houses with new equipment, Glynne added. "It's a question of whether the houses want it or not," he said.
