Roofer Dies in Fall From Apley Roof; Police Investigate

Francis Yebba, a roofer for the Department of Buildings and Grounds, fell from the roof of Apley Court Wednesday morning and was pronounced dead at the Mount Auburn Hospital.

Yebba, who lived in Nashua, N.H., was working on the roof of Apley Court with some other workers at 7:50 a.m., Capt Jack Morse of the University Police said yesterday.

"They were lowering various thing down to the ground on the hoist when the fall occurred," Morse said. "The exa cause of the fall is not yet understood," he added.

Harvard Police and the Environmental Health and Safety Unit of University Health Services are investigating the accident.

Yebba was 34.
