Despite a strong offensive performance, the freshman gridders bowed to Holy Cross yesterday, 20-16, at Soldiers Field, evening their record at 1-1.
The Crimson took the lead 16-13 early in the fourth quarter when Jim Garvey plunged over from the one-yard line. Holy Cross retaliated, however, moving ahead for good when they scored with 3:40 remaining in the game.
Crimson quarterback Don Allard directed the team to the Holy Cross 12-yard line in the final minutes but failed to throw for the touchdown in three attempts.
