The Cornell women's fencing team mandhandled the Crimson women Saturday at the IAB, crushing Harvard 15-1.
Despite the final tally, Cornell did not outclass Harvard, as the Crimson gathered three or four points in eight of the first nine bouts. Yet Harvard could not gather the vital one or two touches for five-point bout victories, as even usually formidable captain Kathy Lowry, previously 11-1 on the year, fell twice.
Bernadette Drankoski gave Harvard its only consolation triumph, fencing very aggressively and penetrating through her opponent's guard to take the 15th bout, 5-4.
