In an effort to publicize a March Conference on South Africa, the Black Law Students Association has brought the actor Danny Glover to Harvard for two benefit performances this weekend.

Glover and Kashka Bonjoko gave one performance of "The Island," by the anti-apartheid South African playwright. Athol Fugard, at Paine Hall last night, and will give another tonight.

"We knew some of the conference's organizers and we had a little time out of out schedules," says Glover.

Glover starred with James Earl jones in "Master Harold... And the Boys" on Broadway, but will not appear in the play's Boston run: Bonjoko played one of the lead crows in "The Wiz."

John Nani and Winston, Nishona, who won Tony Awards for their performances in the 1975 production of the two-man play, are currently in jail in South Africa, Glover says.
