Marchese, Maspons and Larkin were the only unanimous selections in the vote by the league's 10 coaches Weller was one vote shy of unanimous selection to the first team. DePalo and Stratton were the only two freshman on the first team. DePalo beat out Yale's Tony Paterno by a single vote Paterno had been a first team all league catcher the last three years.
The coaches selected the team by secret ballot. The Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League includes the eight Ivy schools, Army and Navy.
