Vice President for Government, Community and Public Affairs James H. Rowe '73 was in Washington yesterday at a strategy meeting for universities looking to advance their agenda in the new Republican Congress.

The gathering of representatives from the American Association of Universities is a regular event, he said. The association represents both public and private universities nationwide.

On the agenda for next year are research funding levels, student aid, and issues of indirect costs, which is research money granted to pay for so-called hidden costs of research, like light bulbs and building maintenance.

"We're talking over the issues and just getting together...," he said. "We're going to be talking with a lot of the new [Congressional] staff."
