LIVE UPDATES: Pro-Palestine Protesters Begin Encampment in Harvard Yard
The Harvard women's softball team enjoyed a glorious afternoon yesterday, and it wasn't just because of the great spring weather.
The squad swept a doubleheader against UMass-Lowell, winning the first game, 4-2, and the second game by a score of 5-0.
Harvard (24-12 overall) won the first game behind the strong pitching of freshman Tasha Cupp. Cupp fired a three-hitter, leaving UMass frozen in its tracks in the batter's box.
The offense took its cue from Cupp, led by junior Amy Reinhard, who went three-for-four.
Reinhard capped her day by belting her first round-tripper of the season.
Harvard picked up where it left off in the second game, with freshman Heather Brown tossing a fourhitter to complement Cupp's strong outing.
Reinhard led the charge, smacking her second circuit clout of the year and going two-for-three overall.
Also grabbing the offensive spotlight was sophomore outfielder Melissa Kreuder, who complemented Reinhard's blast with one of her own, a two-run home run.
The team returns home this weekend for a doubleheader against Dartmouth in its final regular season game, and is hoping to earn a bid to the ECAC tournament later this month.
