To the editors:

Thank you for publishing the excellent column “Girl Talk” by Phoebe Kosman ’05 on April 12. It directly addressed many of the word-choice issues that bug me when referring to a woman in daily conversation. One suggestion, that was not mentioned in the article, is to use “gal” to refer to females who are “not a girl, and not yet a woman”. It seems to be the appropriate analogue to “guy.”
