Surprise Crimson Needs One More Upset

By Lisa Kennelly, Crimson Staff Writer

The Harvard women’s squash team wasn’t supposed to be here.

The Crimson wasn’t supposed to unseat the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the country to claim a No. 2 national ranking. It wasn’t supposed to beat Princeton so soundly, 6-3, to avenge 2004’s upset loss to the Tigers. It wasn’t supposed to topple Trinity, 5-4, to claim the first Harvard victory over the Bantams since 2001.

And the Crimson (7-0, 5-0 Ivy) definitely wasn’t supposed to be undefeated heading into a showdown with defending national and Ivy champion No. 1 Yale.

Yet somehow, Harvard has only the Bulldogs (9-0, 5-0) standing in the path of an Ivy championship and a No. 1 seed at the national championships next weekend. And no one is quite sure how it happened.
