ALFRED HENRY JONES.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

WE gladly give space to the following resolutions passed at a late meeting of the Sophomore Class in memory of their classmate, Alfred Henry Jones, who died of small-pox at Springfield, August 10, 1873.

There could be no better commentary upon them than the evident feeling manifested by his classmates at the meeting in which they were passed.

Whereas, It has pleased Almighty God, in his infinite mercy, to remove by death, during the past vacation, our companion and classmate, ALFRED HENRY JONES:

Resolved, That, while we his classmates, in common with his many other friends, share in the loss sustained by his death, we feel that this blow has fallen with peculiar force upon ourselves, to whom he has endeared himself by his many talents, and as a genial companion and a warm and true friend.

Resolved, That, while we join in these resolutions for the loss which we have sustained, we also tender our heartfelt sympathy to his widowed mother, who by his death is called upon to mourn her only child.

Resolved, That, as a mark of respect to the memory of one whom we shall ever hold dear, we wear the badge of mourning for the usual time.

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be sent to his mother; and that they be published in the Harvard Advocate and Magenta, the Boston Advertiser, Springfield Republican, and Vermont Phoenix.
