The project of entirely abandoning foot ball, which has become one of our recognized college games, is worthy of the most careful consideration and discussion. The committee must have weighty reasons indeed to induce them to take such a step-a step a so contrary to the spirit of independence and intelligence in which we pass our college lives-and we think it right that these reasons should be made known before any hasty criticism of their action is attempted. We feel confident, however, that the students as a body will regret to find the faculty interposing in their sports and saying that such and such games shall be played, and such and such games shall not be played.
