HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
The sophomore class meeting last evening was largely attended. Mr. P. D. Trafford was re-elected president. Mr. John Balch was re-elected vice-president. Mr. F. E. Parker was elect-secretary and treasurer.
Mr. R. F. Perkins was elected captain of the eleven, Mr. L. H. Morgan of the nine, and Mr. J. T. Davis of the crew. A committee composed of the president and Messrs. Rantoul and Kimball was appointed to draw up resolutions on the death of William Francis Austin, and to transmit a copy to his parents.
The report of the Anniversary Committee was accepted. Messrs. Trafford, Ropes and J. G. King were elected to the committee.
Messrs. Trafford, Davis and Keyes were elected Marshals.
It was unanimously voted that the money remaining last year from the expenses of the crew be devoted to purchasing cups to be presented to the eight, as souvenirs of their glorious victory over the Yale and Columbia freshmen.
