Harvard Defeats Holy Cross.

The visiting team was defeated yesterday on Jarvis, by a score of five to one. A large number of Holy Cross men accompanied their team and saw it outfielded and outbatted by its opponents. Harvard played well in the field, but batted and ran bases poorly, Willard being the only exception.

Harvard was blanked in the first inning, but scored in the second on Willard's hit and errors by Higney and Cahill. In the fourth, Willard made a hit, went to second on Henshaw's single, took third on Gallivan's grounder to Moran and scored on a passed ball. Gallivan and Howland also scored in this inning on a hit and several passed balls. Harvard did not do anything until the seventh, when Boyden led off with a clean hit to centre, took second on a wild pitch, third on Dean's sacrifice to Meade, and came home on an unsuccessful attempt by Cahill to catch him at third.

Holy Cross went out in order until the seventh inning, when their only run was made. With two men out, Higney made a hit, went to second and third on a wild pitch, and scored on Moran's hot liner to short.

Boyden pitched a good game and was well supported behind the bat. For Holy Cross, Neary, Higney and O'Neil played well.
