Chinese Sunday School.

An appeal has come from the Superintendent of the Chinese Sunday School in Boston for twenty-five more teachers from Harvard. Every week between thirty and forty Chinamen ask in vain for some one to teach them, and their disappointment discourages many others who would otherwise be regular pupils.

The method of work is very simple. Each teacher has one or two Chinamen in his class, whom for two hours on Sunday afternoon he instructs in the elements of the English language, teaching how to pronounce, spell and write easy common words, and as much more as the pupils are capable of learning. They are very appreciative of the efforts made by their teachers; the dozen or more Harvard students at present teaching there feel wholly repaid by the gratitude of the scholars.
