Yesterday afternoon the '97 and '99 football teams lined up for two ten minute halves. Neither side scored but the ball was in '99's territory the greater part of the time. Both sides played a kicking game largely. '97's defensive work was good, but the backs played very loosely.

The '98 and '00 squads practiced by themselves yesterday, neither of them doing very hard work. The Juniors were to have played Exeter at Exeter today, but the game has been cancelled, owing to the inability of several of the team to go. A practice game with '99 has been arranged in its place which will be played before the 'Varsity game this afternoon.

The Freshman squad was reduced yesterday to thirty men, and a captain will be probably chosen in the course of the coming week. A team will be made up today to play a practice game with '97. Manager Spalding has arranged the following schedule:

Sat., Oct. 17, Practice with '97.

Wed., Oct. 21, Brookline High at Cambridge.

Sat., Oct. 24, Exeter at Cambridge.

Thur., Oct. 29, '99.

Sat., Oct. 31, Groton at Groton.

Wed., Nov. 4, winner of '97-'98, vs. winner of '99 vs. '00.

Sat., Nov. 14, open.

Sat., Nov. 21, U. of P. '00 at Cambridge.

The dates of the games to decide the class championship have been decided upon as follows:

Tues., Oct. 27, '97 vs. '98.

Thur., Oct. 29, '99 vs. '00.

Wed., Nov. 4, winner of '97-'98 vs. winner of '99-'00.
