Yesterday afternoon, Mr. Copeland presided over the regular fortnightly meeting of the College Debating Club. Nine students made speeches on famous men; two of these speeches were on W. J. Bryan.

Mr. Copeland, omitting the usual criticism of the speakers, requested Col. T. W. Higginson, who had unexpectedly stepped in, to address the meeting. The latter gave a very interesting ex temper talk, in which he said that a speaker should always choose the subject nearest his heart. He pointed out the necessity of continual practice for debaters, and complimented the sincerity and wit respectively of the two men who had spoken on Bryan.
