'Varsity Crew Practice.

For the last two or three days the 'varsity crew has been rowing in one of their new shells. The work of the men has not improved much during the past week, but this is undoubtedly due to the number of changes that have been made in the boat and to the fact that the men have not yet become accustomed to a shell. During the middle of the week Moulton was rowing at bow but he has now been placed at five. Marvin who rowed seven in the freshman boat has been taken to the 'varsity and has been rowing at bow. Sprague has been sick for the last two or three days and his place at six has been filled by Shepard '96.

On Saturday afternoon the crew only rowed down to the Harvard bridge and then turned back and went some distance up stream. While rowing up the river the shell struck a rock. The men had to be taken into the launch and the boat was towed back to the crew quarters. Duffield and Hayes stopped rowing on Saturday. This reduces the number of the men, including Marvin, to eight. Mr. Mumford and Mr. Faulkner, are still coaching. Following is the order in which the men rowed on Saturday: Stroke, Goodrich; 7, Bullard; 6, Sprague; 5, Moulton; 4, Stillman; 3, Perkins; 2, Hollister; bow, Marvin.
