Freshman Crew.

Since the class race the Freshman Crew has been doing very light work under the coaching of Kales '96. Marvin has returned to the Freshman boat, and the order has been somewhat changed since the race. The 'Varsity are now using the shell in which the Freshmen rowed the class race, and the Freshmen are rowing in last year's 'Varsity practice shell.

This is a rather heavy boat, so as yet no great amount of speed work has been done. The crew will soon go into their new racing shell, which will be one of the two new ones ordered by the 'Varsity. The 'Varsity will take the one that suits them best and the Freshmen will have the other.

The coaching has been for the most part on blade work, and, with the exception of two, who is a little slow, the port side is much better than the starboard. The starboard side is very ragged, and none of the oars go in together; three's oar particularly is high and late. The now four are inclined to be weak and short on the leg work.

As a whole the tendency of the crew is to get away slowly on the first part of the recover, and to rush their slides on the last part.

The order of the crew is as follows:

Stroke, Boardman; 7, McDuffie; 6, Thomson; 5, Whitbeck; 4, Perkins; 3, Donald; Marvin; bow, Dibblee.
