Spring Squad.

Yesterday the work of the spring football squad ended with the annual contests in kicking and passing. Not many of the men who took part were first-class and most of them did not show up very well. Cochrane did the best work, winning the place and drop kicking, while Wrightington and Davis won the punting and passing respectively. The prizes will probably be cups and only one will be given in each event.

The first events were the punting and passing. In the punting the men were judged for form, accuracy and distance, and in this Wrightington and Dunlop were easily the best, with Wrightington first. The quarterback passing was won by Davis, the others being neither as quick nor as sure as he; Davis, however, has had the advantage of playing with the centre rush all through the season while the others were used to different men. In the drop kicking the ball was passed back from the fifteen, twenty and twenty-five yard lines, every man having three trials at each distance. Cochrane won this event as he also did the place kicking, in which he did especially well, making eleven out of twelve goals. In the place kicking each man had three trials at three different angles on the fifteen yard line, and three more straight in front, from the twenty-five yard line. The judges were B. G. Waters '94, A. H. Brewer '96, J. J. Hayes '96, and A. Borden '96.

Summary:

Punting-Won by E. N. Wrightington '97.

Drop kicking-Won by F. D. Cochrane '99.

Passing-Won by R. L. Davis '98.

Place kicking-Won by F. D. Cochrane '99.
