BROWN THIS AFTERNOON

Harvard Will Have a Strong Line-up Against Aggressive Opponents.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

It will be possible to obtain an idea of the real strength of the University eleven in the game with Brown at 3 o'clock this afternoon. As Boal and Reid will be the only men missed from the line-up, Harvard will be able to oppose a good team to the strong Brown eleven. The latter has a good record for this season, and in past seasons has always played games which proved of great value to Harvard elevens. It will require strong team play to break up Harvard's defense, and the offensive work should be effective as a result of the great attention paid to it during the past week. With Sawin and Burnett in the game, the possession of the ball in Brown's territory may mean a goal from the field.

The line-up today will be: Harvard.  Brown. Campbell, l.e.  r.e., Cuddy. Donald, l.t.  r.t., Hapgood. Hollingsworth, l.g.  r.g., Whittemore. Burnett, c.  c., Chesbro. Burden, r.g.  l.g., Melendy. J. Lawrence, r.t.  l.t., Sheehan. Hallowell, r.e.  l.e., Cann. Daly, q.b.  q.b., Pratt. Sawin, l.h.  r.h., Richardson. Kendall, r.h.  l.h., Washburn. Ellis, f.b.  f.b., Bates.

Officials--Carpenter of Tufts and Letton of Yale. Timekeepers--Wood and Gifford.

The practice yesterday was short and brisk. Much time was spent by the first eleven, the substitutes and the second, in running through signals for the sake of the drill in new formations and plays. Coach Lewis instructed the second eleven in the guards back formation, in order that the first may have practice in meeting it before the Pennsylvania game. The first eleven, returned to last year's policy of rushing the line-men, and Donald was used with effect from his position in the line.

In the one ten-minute half played against the second eleven, the Varsity, with good interference on the kick-off, twice worked the ball down the field to the twenty-five yard line. The first time Daly made a fair catch after an exchange of punts and was given ten yards for interference with the catch. Sawin easily kicked the goal. The second time he scored a goal on a drop-kick from the twenty-five yard line.

The line-up in yesterday's practice follows: First Eleven.  Second Eleven. Campbell, l.e.  r.e., Hoxie. Donald, Swain, l.t.  r.t., Peyton. Hollingsworth, l.g.  r.g., Carroll, Rainsford. Burnett, e.  c., Wheeler. Burden, r.g.  l.g., Talbot. J. Lawrence, r.t.  l.t., Lewis. Hallowell, r.e.  l.e., Cooper, Gray. Daly, q.b.  q.b., E. Motley. Sawin, l.h.  r.h., Jaynes. Kendall, r.h.  l.h., Brayton. Ellis, f.b.  f.b., R. Lawrence.
