AMHERST WINS AT BASKETBALL

Harvard is Defeated by the Score of 26 to 18 in a Well-Contested Game.

AMHERST, January 28. -- The University basketball team was defeated by Amherst this evening by a score of 26 to 18. The game was hard fought and exciting throughout and the result was doubtful until the close of play. At the end of the first half, Harvard had an advantage of one point with the score 11 to 10, but in the second half, by successful blocking and good goal throwing, Amherst succeeded in over-coming this advantage and finished the game eight points in the lead. The University team was superior in passing and team work, but inaccurate in goal throwing.
