NEW YORK, N. Y., February 23.--The University hockey team defeated Brown at the St. Nicholas Skating Rink, this evening by a score of 6 goals to 0. The game throughout was loosely and carelessly played, the teamwork of the University team being extremely poor. The back field played too far out and the forwards, though fast individually, were weak in passing.

The teams lined up as follows: HARVARD.  BROWN. Macleod, f.  f., Chase Lovering, f.  f., Mackinney Souther, f.  f., Marble Foster, f.  f., Hunt Clothier, c.p.  c.p., Judah Carr, p.  p., Carpenter Manning, g,  g., Francis

In the intercollegiate series Harvard stands first with a total of four games won and none lost, while--Princeton having withdrawn--Yale and Columbia are tied for second place, each having won two games and lost two. This tie will be played off this evening in New York and the winner will meet Harvard in a series of three games for the intercollegiate championship to be played at the St. Nicholas Rink on next Friday, Saturday and Monday evenings.
