Progress of the Crew.

The University crews rowed yesterday with orders unchanged from those of last week. Work was, for the most part, light, and the coaching was directed towards getting a firm catch and a continuous stroke. During the first part of the practice both crews, especially the first, showed a tendency to delay the stroke at the catch and at the beginning of the recover, but later in the afternoon this difficulty was somewhat obviated. In a number of brushes, varying in length from half a mile to a mile, neither crew was able to gain much of a lead; at one time, however, the second took a spurt at the end of which it led by almost half a length. At other times both eights rowed about 28 strokes to the minute.
