GRADED CREWS RACE TODAY

Six Crews in Three Heats--Row Up-stream at 4 o'clock.

The annual spring graded crew races will be held this afternoon over the regular mile and seven-eights course up-stream from the Union Boat Club to Longwood Bridge, beginning at 4 o'clock. Six crews have entered, three from each club: and there will be three separate races between the senior, intermediate and junior crews from both clubs. The officials will be: G. D. Boardman '03. referee; R. D. Kernan '05 and A. Johnson '05, judges at the finish; Wray and Vail, timers.

The Weld senior crew recently lost four of its best men, including Richmond, who was stroke of last year's Freshman crew. Sanger, who has been dropped from the University squad, has been put in at 6, but the men do not row well together. The Newell senior crew has been hampered by a lack of good material, and the men have been unable to drive the boat along properly. They have a tendency to hold their blades too-high at the catch and a also have a weak finish.

The intermediate crews from both clubs have been rowing in the best form, but the men have not as much endurance as the senior crews. The Weld crew should win, however, as so far they have been doing the best work.

Both junior crews have been much shifted in the last few days; so that the men do not row well together. Yesterday, Sabine and Monro, who have been rowing on the Freshman squad, were put in at 6 and 3, respectively, in the Newell crew. This race should be very close.

The crews will row as follows:
