The preliminary heats for the championship of the Interscholastic Rowing Association were rowed on the Charles River yesterday over the mile course, down-stream. There were three heats with four crews in each heat, the Boston Latin School, the Cambridge Latin School, and the Waltham High School winning the three heats. The Cambridge Latin School crew won its heat in 5m. 33s., breaking the former interscholastic record by 9s. This afternoon the race for second crews will be held and the winner of this will enter the final race on Saturday afternoon with the three crews victorious yesterday.
St. Mark's defeated Groton yesterday in the annual baseball game between the two school teams by the score of 20 to 1.
