Work of Hearst Egyptain Expedition

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Hearst Egyptian Expedition, of which Dr. George A. Reisner '89, is director, and Mr. A. M. Lythgoe '92, assistant director, will continue this winter to make excavations in Upper Egypt where it has been occupied now for three years. Operations in this district, will, however, be brought to a close before very long, and the Exposition will move to the Pyramids of Gizeh, four or five miles out of Cairo, and will there set about another series of excavations.

In the course of the excavations the expedition has been chiefly successful in collecting pottery and beads from the earliest historic and even prehistoric several inscriptions, carved wooden models of funeral boats, and many mummies have been discovered.

Mr. Lythgoe will return to the University next year as instructor in Egyptian archaeology.
