On Thursday, February 25. the Yale Financial Union issued its annual report, which showed that the receipts for the fiscal year 1902-1903. were $92.711, which was somewhat over $9,000 larger than the previous year, and the highest on record. This did not include freshman athletics or the minor sports, such as basketball, hockey and tennis. It is therefore no exaggeration to set Yale's financial receipts from athletics at $100,000 a year. Of this amount about $79,000 was received from gate receipts alone.

Candidates for the university crew were called out about seven weeks ago and have been at work until very recently on some new rowing machines, calisthenics and outdoor running. The weather has not permitted any practice on the harbor, though on Monday the squad was given some light work in pairoars on the river under the coaching of Captain Cross, C. E. Adams '04, and Coach Kennedy.

The university baseball squad was called out on Monday, February 23, and practice has been going on in the cage regularly since then. About fifty candidates are now at work under Captain Winslow and Dr. Murphy, who acts as advisory coach. Captain Winslow will have entire charge of the coaching throughout the season, as this year, in contrast to last, there will be no professional coach.

The Yale Dramatic Association has chosen for its fifth annual production, a comedy called, "New Men and Old Acres," by Tom Taylor and A. W. Dubourg. This play will be presented here on April 19 and 20. Unlike the plays which the association has given of late years. "New Men and Old Acres" is modern in every sense of the word and very like many of the comedies now on the stage.

Mr. Heinrich Conried of the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, will give a German play here on March 16. under the auspices of the German Club. The play is entitled "Die Jugend-Freunde," and is by Ludwig Fulda.

Arrangements have just been completed by which a series of additional courses in law will be open to academic juniors and seniors. Courses in elementary, constitutional and international law have been open to the upper academic classes for some years. With the addition of these new courses it will be possible for a student by taking them during his last two years, to shorten his studies in the law school by a year, while those who only wish to gain an elementary knowledge of the subject, will be able to do so without taking the regular law course.
