Dr. J. R. Brackett '83, of the Department of Philosophy, will speak on "The Ultimate Aims of our Social Work" this evening at 7.30 o'clock in the Randall Room, Phillips Brooks House, at a conference under the auspices of the Social Service Committee. He will point out some opportunities for social work, and show how they may be made effective. Before the address several students who are engaged in various philanthropic institutions will give a brief outline of the work in their departments.
Dr. Brackett received a degree of Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins College in 1887 and for five years was supervisor of city charities in Baltimore. He is now at the head of a new school for social workers in Boston, maintained jointly by the University and Simmons College.
The conference will be open to members of the University, and all men engaged in philanthropic work are especially urged to attend.
