During the past week the starboard men on the University crew have been rowing more strongly than those on the port side of the boat. Therefore several changes in the orders were made yesterday to distribute the strength more evenly. The crew rowed three successive easy stretches between the Newell Boat Club and the Stillman Infirmary, and the shifts, which resulted in effectively strengthening the port side of the boat, were made between stretches.
Derby, who for several weeks has been rowing in a single shell, was tried at 4. Richardson was changed from 4 to Shepard's place at 2. In the second stretch Bacon took Filley's place at 6. The latter coaching from the launch. Meier took Lawson's place at 5 and Lawson was later shifted to 3. where Tappan has been rowing.
The final order yesterday was:
Stroke, Farley; 7, Flint; 6, Filley; 5, Meler; 4, Derby; 3, Lawson; 2, Richardson; bow, Burchard; cox., Montgomery.
