At a meeting of the University Debating Council yesterday afternoon it was voted to award the following insignia to debaters: gold-medal fobs to members of winning University teams, silver-medal fobs to members of losing University teams, and University debating hat-bands to members of all first and second University teams. A medal indicative of membership in the Council was also adopted.
The Freshman Debating Club was empowered to award Freshman debating hat-bands to members of the Freshman debating team, and cups to the team if successful. An effort is being made to arrange a debate between the Harvard and Yale Freshmen.
A challenge from Bowdoin to the upperclass debating clubs was not accepted, and it was voted that the debates of the upperclass clubs be restricted to the University.
