HOCKEY WITH BROWN

In Stadium Rink at 3.30.--Only Game of Intercollegiate League in Cambridge.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

If there is ice, the University hockey team will play its third intercollegiate game against Brown on the Stadium rink this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock. This is the only game of the intercollegiate series that will be played in Cambridge. If the game should be cancelled a notice will be posted at Leavitt & Peirce's before 3 o'clock.

Since the game with Princeton last Saturday, the University team has had only one day of practice on ice, and the development of the Brown team has been similarly handicapped. Owing to the continued warm weather the forwards on the University team have been unable to learn to play together this season. Especially when near their opponent's goal the men are inclined to shoot wildly.

Judging by the games already played by the two teams, Harvard should win. Brown has been beaten by Princeton 5 to 4, by Yale 9 to 0, and by Andover 3 to 0, while the University team has won from Columbia and Princeton by the scores of 7 to 0, and 3 to 0, respectively.

The line-up will be as follows: HARVARD.  BROWN. Pell, l.e.  r.e., Griffith Townsend, l.c.  r.c., Paine Macleod, r.c.  l.c., Lane M. Newhall, r.e.  l.e., Sweet D. Newhall, c.p.  c.p., Chase Willetts, p.  p., Sammis Ivy, g.  g., Hill

Yesterday afternoon the University hockey team practiced at the Brae Burn Country Club. No regular scrimmage was held on account of the poor ice which made accurate passing impossible. There was the usual goal shooting practice by the forwards and work in stopping the puck by the point and goal, followed by a 35-minute practice in which the forwards attempted to score against the defense. The latter repeatedly stopped the puck and excelled the forwards in playing together and general understanding of the game.

Freshmen vs. St. Mark's.

The Freshman hockey team will play its first game against St. Mark's School at Southboro this afternoon at 3 o'clock. Since the Freshmen have had only two days of practice on the ice, no team play has as yet been developed, St. Mark's, however, has already played two games, therefore the score today should be close.

The Freshmen will line up as follows: l.e., Dougherty; l.c., Irving; r.c., Briggs; r.e., Crosby; c.p., Ford, Sampson; p., Prescott; g., Washburn.

The Freshmen will play Pomfret at Pomfret on February 3, and on February 10 the game with the Yale Freshmen will be played on the Stadium rink.
