The American athletes have won the Olympic Games at Athens. They took 11 firsts, six seconds, and five thirds out of 29 events, in many of which, however, they did not compete. Their total was 75 points. Great Britain and all her possessions was second. Greece and Sweden were tied for third place.
The last event of the games was decided yesterday. Stantics, Hungary, won the 3000-meter (3277 yards) walk in 15 minutes 18 3-5 seconds. Muller, Germany, secured second place, and Saradakis, Greece, was third. Wilkinson, England, was disqualified for running.
The time of the Marathon race--the greatest event of the games--which was won Tuesday by William Sherring, Canada, was 2 hours 51 minutes 20 3-5 seconds. Svalberg, Sweden, secured second place in 2 hours 58 minutes 20 seconds. W. G. Frank, I. A. A. C., was third with the time of 3 hours 46 seconds. The distance of the race was 26 miles.
