GALAXY OF CREWS ON RIVER

UNIVERSITY, CLUB, AND DORMITORY EIGHTS ARE NOW IN FULL SWING.

The University crews, favored by exceptionally fine weather, have put in a splendid week's work on the river. The daily row has consisted of a long paddle to the Union Boat Club and a two-mile jog along the Parkway. Under this strenuous training the men are rapidly rounding into shape. The coaches are paying particular attention to form, putting emphasis on the finish.

Captain Murray has divided the first squad into four boats; the first two crews being as evenly matched as possible, and the third and fourth the same. These latter crews are known as the Eliot and Thayer crews. The two Varsity boats are seated in the following order: Crew A--Stroke, Harwood; 7, Ely; 6, Stebbins; 5, Schall; 4, H. S. Middendorf; 3, Talcott; 2, Fuller; bow, Busk; cox., Kreger. Crew B -- Stroke, Brown; 7, Cabot; 6, Parsons; 5, J. W. Middendorf; 4, Lund; 3, Meyer; 2, Culbert; bow, Captain Murray; cox., Cameron.

Ninety Freshmen reported for their dormitory crews. Head Coach MacVicar '15 and Dormitory Coaches W. B. Pirnie '15, B. Harwood '15, and C. T. Abeles '13, assisted by Captain Murray of the University crew have divided the men into nine crews. Although a great number of the men have never rowed Coach MacVicar succeeded in getting a first crew from each of the dormitories out on the river yesterday. More large men should report. No experience is needed.

The graded crews have drawn a large following. Assistant Coach Brown has ten boats on the river and some really good material is in sight. The crews will practice daily in preparation for the race on October 28. Appropriate prizes will be awarded to the winning eight.
