PIERIAN TO PERFORM IN UNION

"Pop" Concert by Orchestra On Tuesday.--Plans for Season.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The first "pop" concert of the year will be given by the Pierian Sodality Orchestra in the Living Room of the Union next Tuesday evening at 8.30 o'clock. It is planned to have at least one and possibly more of these entertainments before the regular annual concert to be given in Sanders Theatre about the middle of April. There will also be a concert given in Brattle Hall shortly after the end of Christmas vacation. One concert by the Pierian has already been given in Waltham but no extended trip is planned before next spring.

This year marks the one hundred and seventh season of musical activity for the Pierian Sodality, and thus far it has been a very successful one in view of the number and ability of men trying out for the orchestra. The organization has fortunately secured the services of Mr. Modeste Aloo, soloist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as coach.

As far as possible, it has been the aim of the Pierian to devote the earlier part of the season to popular operas and lighter music. The second half-year will be given up almost entirely to symphonies and classics.
