NOVICE GYMNASTS COMPETE AT 8

Winner of Most Points in Six Events Will Get Sargent Cup.

The annual novice gymnastic meet will take place in the Hemenway Gymnasium this evening at 8 o'clock. Any undergraduate who has never competed in any University meet is eligible for tonight's contest, provided he has taken a strength test. There will be six events: horizontal bar, side-horse, parallel-bars, flying rings, tumbling and club-swinging. The man who wins the greatest number of points will be presented with the Sargent Cup, which is awarded annually by Dr. Dudley A. Sargent. Men winning first, second, and third places in each event will get ribbons.

The judges will be Dr. Carl L. Schrader, physical instructor at the Gymnasium; J. R. Morton '13, who captained the 1913 University team; and E. W. Ruge 3L., a former Yale captain. The following men have already entered their names as competitiors: H. F. Ballantine '15, H. R. Bechtel '17, E. A. Benner '18, M. Blanchard '18, A. B. Bruce '15, F. M. Bullard '16, R. L. Dodge '17, J. M. French '17, R. G. Gibson '15, H. B. Griffiths '18, W. E. Hicks '18, J. L. Hubbard '18, L. S. Hyde '18, M. H. Reynolds '15, W. E. Sullivan '18, and F. R. Whitney '18. All must report dressed and on the floor at 8 o'clock promptly.
