One of the commendable customs hereabouts, which will be observed this spring, as it has been since the vernal season first came into existence, is the appearance in the Yard of fresh, green grass. Yet there are people who would trample out these verdant manifestations; who take out their wanderlust by straying from the numerous paths upon the tender shoots. Of course the grass suffers; frequently it succumbs entirely and the Yard becomes an unsightly jigsaw puzzle. There are paths enough. Why not stay on them and give the grass a chance? And besides, he who wanders from the gravel walks is in imminent danger of trampling upon one of the new and stately oaks.
