In the opening game of the season the Freshman hockey team easily defeated St. Mark's by a 6 to 2 score yesterday at Southboro. Although handicapped by the small size of the rink, the 1918 team showed themselves superior to the schoolboys both in speed and in stick-work. The Freshmen scored three goals to their opponent's one in each of the twenty-minute halves.

Condon and Thacher did the best playing for the Freshmen, the former having two goals to his credit. Percy, at right wing and centre, also showed up especially well. The Freshmen forced the playing and kept the puck in St. Mark's territory most of the time.

The summary:

Score--Harvard 1918, 6; St. Mark's 2. Goals--Condon 2, Morgan, Percy, Rice, Thacher 2, Gaston, Rand. Referee--Flechtner. Goal umpires--Preston, Bradley, Dickey. Length of halves--20 minutes.
