Work will be begun immediately on the enlargement of the baseball stands at Soldiers Field. The first base section will be enlarged so as to connect it with the home-plate stands, which in turn will be joined to the third base section. An arched entrance will be built between the first base and backstop stands so that the spectators will enter from the rear as heretofore.
With the stands of uniform height, 21 rows, the seating capacity will be increased from 5,400 to 7,000. The wire netting will be enlarged in order to protect these connecting sections.
This new construction will be of steel and will form a single U-shape baseball stand in place of the three sections as they are now. The work will be completed in time for the first Princeton game on June 5.
The diamond will be used for the early season games as usual the work not interfering with the present seating arrangements.
