FRESHMEN PLAY EXETER TODAY

1920 Eleven Determined to Break Precedent by Winning.

The 1920 football team will meet a strong opponent this afternoon in Exeter whom it will face on Soldiers Field at 2 o'clock. Although the Exeter eleven has been defeated this season for the first time in four years, the Yale freshmen winning 28 to 7, the Exeter eleven has always proved a hard proposition for Freshman teams in the past and it is probable that this will again be true this afternoon.

The 1920 eleven is one of the heaviest and most powerful Freshman teams of recent years. With a line averaging over '200 pounds from tackle to tackle and a backfield heavier than usual, it is a strong offensive team. Until recently its defence has been weak, especially against forward passing, and for this reason Andover was able to gain a ten-to-seven victory. Since that game, however, great progress has been made and the Freshmen defeated Lowell. Textile by the large score of 53 to 0 last week.

Exter shows the lack of Tad Jones' coaching this fall in a team which does not measure up to those formerly coached by the present Yale coach. Although the Princeton freshmen were defeated 39 to 0 in a ragged game last Saturday, the defeat by the Yale 1920 eleven shows that Exeter is not as powerful as last year. The Academy eleven defeated 1919 by the score of 22 to 10 a year ago, and the present Freshmen now have the opportunity to turn the tables on Exeter by winning this afternoon.
