1921 added to its string of victories yesterday afternoon by defeating Colby Academy 8 to 5 in one of the best-played games of the season. Both nines displayed unusual hitting ability and six of the 20 safeties were for extra bases.
Peckham of the visitors was the individual star of the engagement, getting a home run and three singles in five trips to the plate. Peckham's home run which came in the third inning with two men on bases, was one of the longest hits on Soldiers Field this season, reaching the infield of the University diamond before coming to a stop. M. P. Davis and E. S. Hardell were the leaders of the Freshman attack, each getting three hits, the latter's including a triple. T. J. Meehan, with a three-base hit, and R. B. Shaw, with a double, were the other 1921 players to get extra-base hits. As both teams got ten hits, the batting honors were very evenly divided.
